Features

Battery Health Checker provides comprehensive battery information:

Battery Health Overview

  • Health Percentage: Overall battery health as a percentage
  • Design Capacity: Original battery capacity when new
  • Current Capacity: Maximum charge the battery can hold now
  • Wear Level: How much capacity has been lost

Charge Information

  • Current Charge Level: Percentage of current charge
  • Charging Status: Whether the battery is charging or discharging
  • Charge Rate: Current charging power in watts

Battery Details

  • Battery Name: Model name of your battery
  • Manufacturer: Who made the battery
  • Chemistry: Battery type (Li-Ion, LiPo, etc.)
  • Cycle Count: Number of full charge cycles completed

Understanding Metrics

Battery Health Percentage

This is calculated as: (Current Capacity / Design Capacity) × 100

  • 90-100%: Excellent - Battery is in great condition
  • 80-89%: Good - Normal wear for a used battery
  • 70-79%: Fair - Notable capacity loss
  • 60-69%: Poor - Consider replacement
  • Below 60%: Critical - Replacement recommended

Design Capacity vs. Current Capacity

Design Capacity is the battery's original maximum capacity as specified by the manufacturer, measured in mWh (milliwatt-hours).

Current Capacity (also called Full Charge Capacity) is the maximum charge your battery can currently hold. This decreases over time as the battery wears.

Cycle Count

A cycle count represents one full 0-100% charge cycle. Partial charges contribute proportionally (e.g., charging from 50% to 100% twice equals one cycle).

Most laptop batteries are designed for 300-500 cycles before reaching 80% capacity. Some premium batteries can handle 1000+ cycles.

Wear Level

Wear level shows how much capacity has been permanently lost: 100% - Health Percentage

For example, if your battery health is 85%, your wear level is 15%.

Troubleshooting

Application Won't Start

  • Ensure you have Windows 10 or later installed
  • Try running as Administrator (right-click → "Run as administrator")
  • Check that you extracted all files from the ZIP archive
  • Disable antivirus temporarily to rule out false positives

No Battery Detected

  • Verify you're using a laptop (desktops typically don't have batteries)
  • Check if the battery is properly connected
  • Restart your computer and try again
  • Check Device Manager for battery driver issues

Inaccurate Readings

  • Some laptops may not report all metrics accurately
  • Cycle count may show as 0 if not supported by the battery controller
  • Try calibrating your battery (full discharge then full charge)
